Describes her work as a war nurse. Says that the practice of returning fugitive slaves to their masters has been stopped. Describes the "Contraband" (formerly enslaved people who had escaped to Union lines) and asks her daughter to send clothes for them. Says of the contraband that "there is a growing faith in these people and I think time is even now when liberty should be proclaimed."
