Description
|
Hannah Wright Mifflin was a Quaker whose family was involved with the Underground Railroad. She discusses the recent Union victories at Vicksburg and Gettysburg and expresses sorrow about the horrors of war. She very much wants to see Lewis and informs her that Howard Gilbert (a school teacher Lewis met in York) has not enlisted.
