Description

Possibly addressed to her sister Martha Coffin Wright. In addition to relaying general news about friends and family, Lucretia Mott discusses the dismissal of Dr. Edward Hall, plans to establish a Hicksite version of Haverford College (which ultimately culminated in Swarthmore College), her relatives' departure from Nantucket, and the disowning of her daughter and son-in-law Maria Mott Davis and Edward Davis from their Meeting. Part of the letter is written on a printed circular titled "To the Friends of the Cause of Woman," dated January 15th, 1854 and signed by Lucretia Mott, Lucy Stone, and others.
